I’ve noticed that I can have a problem with shipping personal projects. No, not heading down the Post Office, but producing products, art, projects, etc.
For example, this revised website design has been sitting on my desktop for over a year now. I’ve had an iffy landing page for quite some time because I was just never happy enough about the new design to actually build it. Then, a week or two ago on a Friday evening I decided that I was going to build what I had and that it was going live by midnight on Sunday whether it was done or not. It didn’t matter if it was perfect, or missing parts, or still ugly – it was going live.
And it went live. And the world didn’t explode. No one called me in a panic. Nothing changed, No one even knew about it and it was full of broken parts. But I actually made something and took it live. I doubt that anyone is actually reading this right now or will read this for some time, but that doesn’t matter because I’m actually shipping and creating and that’s what matters in the end.
Sometimes you just have to shut up and ship it.
